In Canada, an epidemic of overdoses and drug toxicity deaths has left thousands of families in mourning. Emerging from this grief and anger has been a movement of mothers dedicated to drug policy reform—changes to the laws and policies that claimed the lives of their loved ones. Moms Stop the Harm began with three mothers and has grown to include over 2,000 families affected by one of Canada’s worst public health crises. This is their story.
